Six out of 24 players managed to pass the qualifying rounds at the TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Cup after winning two consecutive matches.
Romania’s Sorana Cirstea who’s fighting to get back to her bright days ended the main draw hopes of another Turk Basak Eraydin. Following a win over Pemra Ozgen, former world no.21 Cirstea beat Eraydin 7-5, 6-3.
Top ranked player in the qualifying action, Maria Sakkari got the job done easily. 20-year-old Greek dominated Myrtille Georges 6-0, 6-2 just under an hour to book her place in the main draw.
Other qualifiers were noted as Reka-Luca Jani, Maryna Zanevska, Kristina Kucova and Marina Melnikova. Here are the first round match-ups of the new members of the main draw:
