TOUGH BUT GOOD FOR HIBINO

On the opening day of the TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Cup main draw action, two tickets were booked for the second round.

6th seed Nao Hibino who stepped on Garanti Koza Arena clay, had a struggling match against young talent Dayana Yastremska of Ukraine, but managed survive: 2-6, 6-4, 6-3.

Despite losing the first set 6-2 and falling behind 3-1 in the second against her 15-year-old opponent, Hibino started to control the encounter thanks to her flawless performance.

At the end of 2 hours and 25 minutes, Hibino swept into last 16 defeating promising Koza WOS player Yastremska, who was in WTA action for the first time.

 

Alongside Hibino, 5th seed Danka Kovinic was also victorious in her opener. Montenegrin broke serve six times to reach a comfortable 6-3, 6-3 win over Kurumi Nara. She’ll next face Tsvetana Pironkova or Aliaksandra Sasnovich.
