STAR-STUDDED FIELD IN ISTANBUL

A joint press conference was held ahead of the 2018 TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Cup and TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Open at the Swissotel İstanbul with the participation of President of Turkish Tennis Federation Cengiz Durmus, Turkish Economy Bank General Manager Umit Leblebici, Koza World of Sports Manager and Tournament Director Yavuz Selek, 2016 winner Cagla Buyukakcay.

Koza World of Sports Manager and Tournament Director Yavuz Selek invited tennis fans for the two-week festive at the Garanti Koza Park. Selek also shared his thoughts regarding the 11th TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Cup and TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Open, which will be celebrating the fourth year.

Turkish Economy Bank General Manager Umit Leblebici stated that they have been supporting tennis in Turkey continuously for eight years and added: “We are delighted to see that a sense of “TEB equals tennis in Turkey” has been created.” Leblebici underlined that tennis grows more and more each day in Turkey and mentioned the importance of their support for sponsored tournaments and various events, which will continue to be organized.

Starting his speech by thanking Garanti Koza and TEB, President of Turkish Tennis Federation Cengiz Durmus hopes that Turkish national players will show their best performances at the TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Cup and TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Open both. Durmus told that Turkey has become a trademark in tennis and the excitement will reach at it’s peak following the addition of the star players for the tournaments.

Turkish women’s national Cagla Buyukakcay, who has captured the title in 2016, at the TEB BNP Paribas İstanbul Cup expressed the event as the best tournament of her career. “To be playing in my hometown, in front of my citizens means extra motivation for me. I was dreaming of winning the trophy someday when I was watching the tennis stars so the arrival of world no. 1 Caroline Wozniacki is terrific.

WOZNIACKI & CILIC TO PLAY

The headliners of the TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Cup on April 23-29 and TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Open to be played on April 30- May 6, are announced as Australian Open 2018 winner Caroline Wozniacki (WTA No. 1) and Australian Open 2018 finalist Marin Cilic (ATP No:3).

Having reached her first Grand Slam title of her career in Melbourne, Caroline Wozniacki welcomed fans via video message with words as; “I’ve had such a amazing start to the year. I’m really excited to come back to Istanbul. I’ve played in 2014 and won the tournament. Obviously I want to come back. The fans are incredible. Hope to see you in April!”
