LOCALS TO TAKE STAGE ON THE GARANTI KOZA ARENA

TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Cup action kicks off tomorrow as the qualifying competition start at 11am local time. 24 players will be fighting for the six main draw spots in Istanbul.

On 23 April National Sovereignty and Children’s Day, four Turks will take place on the Garanti Koza Arena, center court of Koza World of Sports. It’s 17-year-old Ipek Oz to show up first for her maiden match on the WTA Tour against third seed Anna Kalinskaya of Russia.

Following this encounter, in-form Basak Eraydin is seeking for a strong start in front of her homecrowd. Eraydin who has clinched the biggest title of her career last week at the ITF 60K tournament in Istanbul, will take on 2014 Wimbledon fourth rounder Tereza Smitkova.

Garanti Koza Arena which as a seating capacity of 8000, will be home to another young talent Berfu Cengiz on the third match of the day. 1999-born Cengiz will face Russian Anastasiya Komardina as the action will end with the clash between Melis Sezer and Nadia Podoroska.

Top seed of qualifying Dalila Jakupovic of Slovenia who’s ranked no. 134 in the world starts her Istanbul Cup campaign against a former top 60 player Alexandra Cadantu while second seed Sabina Sharipova meets Conny Perrin to keep her main draw hopes alive.

One of the featuring names of qualifying Teliana Pereira, who won two tour-level titles in 2015, (the year she reached her career-high with no.43) plays Tara Moore as the defending doubles champion (w/Soylu) Andreea Mitu will be on court for her contest against Alla Kudryavtseva.
