LATE-BLOSSOMER PAULINE ENJOYS THE FINAL

French player Pauline Parmentier made her day with a great victory over 7th seed Irina Camelia Begu in Saturday afternoon. She reached first WTA singles final almost in ten years. 

Pauline Parmentier of France reached the final of Istanbul Cup after defeating Rumanian Irina-Camelia Begu 6-3, 6-4 at Garanti Koza Park. Parmentier and Begu have switched their opening serves in the beginning, but Frenchwomen broke again her opponent to take the set, 6-3. Begu did not get a rhythm in second set as Parmentier closed out the match by a break after one hour 49 minutes.

Pauline Parmentier returned to WTA-level singles final in ten years, last final came in summer of 2008. She has perfect record in WTA finals by 2-0 before her third appearence. Meanwhile, she lost to her next rival Polona Hercog in Bogota after missing three match points in Bogota, seven years ago.

Parmentier, ranked 122, will be sharing the “lowest combined ranked singles final” in Istanbul with Polona Hercog, ranked 75.
