Slovakian Kristina Kucova outclassed 7th seed Katerina Bondarenko in three sets with a stunning comeback in the decider. 

TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Cup fourth day concluded with a high-note match between qualifier Kristina Kucova and Katerina Bondarenko. Kucova, ranked 137th, stunned Bondarenko in three-sets by 6-3, 1-6 and 7-5.

After taking first set, Kucova suddenly lost her momentum while trailing 0-4 in decider. Despite losing 10 out of 11 games in middle of the match, The 26-year old Slovak regrouped again to climbed to the victory. Bondarenko who lost against Kucova in Charleston this year, was 5-3 up in third set but didn’t manage to close out the match. With a five consecutive grueling games, Kucova celebrated the late-night victory against 7th seed as the fans witnessed the 22.45 finish.

Kucova will face Swisswoman Stefanie Vögele in next round.
