Canadian tennis star Eugenie Bouchard meets the media at the press conference held at the Garanti Koza Arena.

Before the Q&A, TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Cup Tournament Director Paul McNamee announced that Eugenie Bouchard has become the ambassador of Koza World of Sports.

“I’m proud of being the ambassador of Koza WOS.” said 23-year-old Canadian and added, “Koza WOS is a great venue and supports the development of sports in the country. It’s a beautiful facility. I hope I can help and encourage young players. It’s the best chance to for Turkish players to succeed.”

2014 Wimbledon runner-up stated that she is very excited to be in Istanbul and continued, “It’s my first visit to Istanbul. I’m impatient to compete on Garanti Koza Arena. Last year I was in Ankara for the TEB BNP Paribas Tennis Stars Series event where I shared the court with Cagla Buyukakcay and had amazing time.”

Former world no. 5 also told the press, “I consider every tournament as a great opportunity to win. I will try to do my best this week. My career dream is to win a major. I know it’s a long road. Hopefully this year I will get back in top 20 but I don’t want to put so much pressure on me.”

Asked about how she manages to deal having so much attention, Genie replied, “For sure getting the attention was hard to get used to it. I have to see it as a positive thing but sometimes it can be difficult to manage.”

Former world no. 5 Eugenie Bouchard underlined in a response when a journalist reminded her that she is a fan of Roger Federer, “Yes. I’m a big fan of Roger. It’s so impressive to watch him play. His patience is a good lesson for everyone.”
