CAGLA: I’M TAKING EVERY MATCH SEPERATELY

At press conference after her second round win, Cagla Buyukakcay said that she takes match after match with the aim of not creating any pressure on herself.

Trying to be break into top 100 in WTA rankings, Cagla Buyukakcay reached quarter-final for the first time in career at Istanbul Cup. “I am trying to not create pressure on myself. It will be my first quarter final match at this tournament. There is no easy game at this level, and you have to take match after match.” stated Cagla after her historical win over Sorana Cirstea.

Having remarked that she had watched Serena Cirstea playing in first round, she told, “At 4-3 in first set, I got nervous and made some errors. However, I was better than her in whole match. I tried to discomfort her with my shots, and it has worked. When I was up 4-1 in first set, I had got chance to take an easy match win but committed some errors. In second set, I took lesson from that. So, I can say that that game was critical.”

Concerning increasing her performance on serve, Cagla said it’s all about fitness training. “I became stronger in last three months, and it effects positively my serves. Before, I had an shoulder injury and couldn’t serve in matches as well as in trainings.” said Turkish number 1, who will face Nao Hibino in the next round to book her spot in semi-finals.
