Turkish No.1 Cagla Buyukakcay meets local press after her first-ever match win at TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Cup in seventh occasion. Buyukakçay said she trying to concentrate to her own game. 

26-year old Turkish pro has defeated Russian rival Marina Melnikova at Garanti Koza Arena in front of nearly 1000 spectators. Cagla, who has perfect match record (4-0) against Melnikova, praises local support:

“We have great crowd here at the Arena. Playing in front of the children is always beautiful. Actually, i struggled to concentrate little bit at the beginning, but I just overcomed end of the set. Also similar conditions we had in the second, i could be trail 4-2, but i managed to come back. Just focused to best part of my game. Tried to some drive volleys and net points. It works.”

Cagla Buyukakcay also pointed to she is closing to playing Wimbledon main draw:

“I’m going to play qualies in Paris, but i still have a chance to play directly main draw at Wimbledon. Remember, some players who had Top 20 rankings in the past, are playing at the qualies time to time. It happens sometimes. Actually, i preferred – at least one time – to qualified to main draw from eliminations.”

Buyukakcay also said she is pursuing Rio 2016 ambitions, which is still alive. She informed as the qualification period closing on June 6th and she has to be in Top 70-75 at the ranking to get a ticket for Olympics.
