BASAK CLEARS THE FINAL HURDLE

Başak Eraydın became first Turkish player to qualiy main draw after defeated Alla Kudryavtseva in three sets. 

Turkish No.3 Başak Eraydın edged past Russian Alla Kudryavtseva 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 on Garanti Koza center court. 22-year old Turk presented some staggering points and clear winners over Kudryavtseva, who ranked 87 place above her in current rankings. Eraydın contested two times in qualifying, but she didn’t qualify to main draw before. Her only previous appearance at main draw came in 2010 by a wild-card.

Eraydin became first Turk to success in qualifying since beginning of the tournament. In previous editions, Turkish participiants played 23 times in qualifying event but didn’t capitalized any main draw berths.

Addition with Başak Eraydın, Turkey has four representers in the main draw, included Çağla Büyükakçay – defending champion – and two wild-card entries Ayla Aksu and İpek Soylu.
